NeedLink Nashville tabloid distribution

For about 60 years or more, a popular Nashville Kiwanis Club service project on the first or second Saturday in December has been the preparation and distribution of the annual report and fundraising tabloids that raise a significant portion of the annual mission budget for NeedLink Nashville, a 100+ year old agency (formerly Big Brothers of Nashville) which "helps our neighbors meet basic needs in times of crisis by providing short-term assistance and links to other resources."

We gather at 8:00 am on the designated morning, usually at the Holiday Inn Vanderbilt, place the papers in plastic bags and then distribute in teams to assigned areas (the team captains and their group generally retain the same assigned areas in the neighborhoods near Vanderbilt University for several years) to hang the plastic bags on door knobs - there is no ringing of door bells nor interaction with the residents!

Our club members usually take advantage of the opportunity to turn in their annual contribution checks to be associated with the Kiwanis support of NeedLink Nashville, those collective donations often totalling $2,000 to $5,000.
